Sulu Gov awards Core Shelter Units, Inaugurates Water System

Sulu, Sulu Gov. Abdusakur M. Tan awarded recently a total of 65 Core Shelter units to residents of Sulu. A joint project of the Department Social Welfare And Development (DSWD) and the Sulu Provincial Government (SPG), 25 units were given to families situated in Brgy. Timbangan, Indanan, Sulu and 40 units to families living in Brgy. Laum, Maimbung, Sulu.


In a simple ceremony in Brgy. Laum, Maimbung, Sulu, Gov. Tan with Maimbung Mayor Samier A. Tan, Governor's Chief of Staff Abdusakur A. Tan II and DSWD Provincial Director Madeleine Bahjin, distributed Certificates of Acceptance and Completion of the housing units to the beneficiaries, Provincial Board member Darren Limpasan, Pandami Mayor Hatta Berto, Kalinggalang Caluang Mayor Alrazmie Halun, Brgy. Relics of Sulu´s violent past are evident throughout Jolo. At the entrance of the town are four gates used as watchtowers during Spanish times. Building that were gutted by fire or riddled with bullets during the 1970´s still stand.
